Send another email asking if they even got the message. It never hurts to keep checking in

I have messaged them and we've had back and forth conversation nearly every day. But they have never gotten me any closer to resolving this issue. What about this site? It seems shady because they didn't even finish their website, but the rules seem open. www.entangledweb.comAny help would greatly be encouraged. I also am still thinking of that "nearly free speech" place, but will it allow for a forum to be hosting using SMT?

SMF? Yes, SMF runs on the very standard "LAMP stack" (referring to Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP). This is exactly what NFSN provides as its "dynamic" sites (amongst some other scripting language options). Heck, they specifically mention SMF on their Services->WebSites page (see under "Dynamic Sites"): www.nearlyfreespeech.net/services/hostingI can poke around The Entangled Web for you too, if you'd like?

So, I had a 10-min look at The Entangled Web. Unfortunately, their site is not merely unfinished, but it is impossible to understand what exactly the offer, and at what price (the price listing page reached from the top menu is nonsensical, showing a set of identical packages with differing prices, and another set of different packages offered at the same price). My initial impression is that you should probably run screaming from The Entangled Web. Also, their AUP ( www.entangledweb.com/acceptable-use-policy/ ) has: They leave this pretty open. Note also that, on the one page that /does/ seem to have a reasonably coherent representation of their offerings ( www.entangledweb.com/client-portal/cart/?gid=11 ) that "Adult Content Hosting" is a separate category from the $5/mo "Shared Hosting" that you'd be looking at, and that the category contains only a $75/mo dedicated server. Again, it's rather debatable whether PSF is "adult", but there seems to be a danger that one day The Entangled Web will decide that PSF is "ew, gross" and either drop it or force it to move to the $75/mo dedicated server plan (to the same net effect).

Oh wow, thanks Yasl. I didn't trust Entangledweb, but I was reading other "adult" communities use them. I guess the shady business comes with shady hosting.
Good news, we have heard from our Lunarpages rep, and are now on the last step to having our account activated. We just need to hear from them once more to approve something and we are done. So it soley depends on how quick they are. The next step will be making the forum using SMT, and hopefully that will be easier then I hope.

Have you discussed the content with them to see if they'd have any issues with it?

They don't seem to have an issue. So lets keep our fingers crossed. We never actually posted inappropriate material at PSF with ProBoards either.
I will have to say right now though, that our new forum will retain the same rules to begin with. Safe for work, and link to non safe material.

Well maybe there WERE a few 18+ stories posted right on the blog itself rather than a pastebin link

Okay, so we got Lunarpages and our domain up as of this morning. MasterXtreme updated everyone on his blog thing. So I am currently staring at some online control panel, with a SMF file that I simply want to upload but have no idea what to do.... This is what I am looking at. No idea what I need to do. Any ideas on how to start? Who's the brains here?

1. You'll want to go to "FTP Accounts" and make sure you have some FTP credentials.
2. Then, download and install on your machine an FTP client, such as Filezilla.
3. Extract the SMF ZIP file (I use 7-zip when on Windows, but any archive utility will do).
4. Upload all the extracted files to the server using Filezilla and your credentials.
Lots of smaller details behind most of the steps there, but that's the gist of it. Let me know how you go.
(If you run into significant issues, you could see whether Lunarpages gives some way of creating a not-quite-admin account through which I could assist you. Or even just FTP credentials might be enough to get by.)

Off to a roaring start right out of the gate. I'm stuck at one. So I click FTP Accounts and this is what I have. What do I do? I wish I wasn't computer stupid.

Sorry for the tardiness. Probably you'll want to use the 'ftp@<blank>.com' account/user. Its password may have been set to the password of your admin panel user, but that's just speculation. You should probably click its 'Change Password' button and set it to something different anyway, since FTP is an insecure protocol by default (you can secure it, if the server supports it, but those are additional hoops that can be jumped through later). Stick those details into Filezilla (once installed from filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client ). Host will be as specified. Username will either be 'ftp@<blank>.com' or just 'ftp'. Password you'll have just set . Port will be the default (21). If you connect successfully, test a single file upload by creating a file on your local computer named 'phpinfo.php' and adding the following single line as its contents: <?php phpinfo(); ?> Copy this to the directory that Filezilla opens when it connects (i.e. in the right-hand-side directory pane). Then navigate to yoursite.com/phpinfo.php and see whether it worked. You'll also probably want a proper text editor. On Windows I use Notepad++: notepad-plus-plus.org/download/Much better than editing website files with plain Notepad!
